Echoes Gift shop
Located within the Reverse Garbage warehouse, Echoes Giftshop exhibits the innovative works of artists, craftworkers and designers who use at least 75% re-used or recycled materials in their work.
All sorts of materials, from discarded venetian blinds and scrap metal to broken mirrors and re-used bottles, have taken on new life as works of art. Salvaged materials take on new form and meaning, illustrating the possibilities for the re-use of otherwise wasted materials.
We hold regular exhibitions of new work. If you are interested in exhibiting or would like to sell your works though Echoes, please email Brooke Nelson on info@reversegarbage.com.au or call on 07 3844 9744 on Fridays.

Previous Exhibitions
SH!FT - November 2009
During the month of National Recycling Week, we thought we'd take the opportunity to challenge brisbane artists to SH!FT the materials they use in their work to eco-friendly salvaged materials, whilst at the same time helping YOU to SH!FT the way your see 'waste'.
A broad array of items were exhibited including jewllery, homewares, toys and art.
res·o·nance - 15th August - 5th September 2009
August is a time for Brisbane residents to reflect on the sounds of their community. Whether it be the sounds of the live music festivals, the sounds of country activities during ‘EKKA’ or the sounds of feet hitting the pavements for the Bridge to Brisbane fun run, the August winds carry the sounds through our city and energise us to resonate with our surrounding community.
Artworks in the exhibition reflected sound, movement, energy and community through salvaged materials.
Artists included Phil Willy, Jill Bridges, Grant Dowling, Tina Fullerton, Louise Hellewell, Rebekah Evans, Feybles, Jemica Ostrofski, Julie Hauritz, Kathy Sullivan and Helen Berthold.

'Renaissance' Exhibition - 21 November to 19 December 2008
The title ‘Renaissance’ was selected for its ‘rebirth’ and ‘renewal’ connotations. We’ve invited artists to breath ‘new life’ into discarded materials creating art pieces perfect for the ecologically sound Christmas present.
Participating artists include: Wendy Bailye, Helen Berthold, Anna Bourke, Ali Chisholm, Karen Drimer, Suzanna Dwyer, Rebekah Evans, Sally Flynn, Anna Gollan, Rebecca Hollis, Julie Kiefel, Natalie Lane, Sally Macfarlane, Erin Murphy, Silke Savran & Phil Willy.
'Adorn Me' Exhibition - 13 June to 19 July, 2008
Adorn me...was the invitation for artists to explore links between primal choices of bodily expression and modern fashion. Each artist produced work using 75 per cent or more recycled materials that tackles concepts surrounding ‘adornment’.
Cindy Parker was one of our exhibiting artists and says, “we live in a throw-away society characterised by an endless array of choices and ever-emerging wants.” Her necklaces (above) were made from found modern items including zips, Barbie doll feet and rubbish from the beach.
Opening night was a great success and we'd like thank the exhibiting artists. Wendy Bailye, Karen Drimer, Sally Macfarlane, Susannah Dwyer, Cate Collopy, Caroline Fewtrell, Corrine Colbert, Kelie Savage, Cindy Parker, Marion Gaemers, Verona Ker, Elisa Terranova & Jemica Ostrofski.

Junk-IT exhibition - mid-2006
Reverse Garbage was very excited to host Junk-IT, an exhibition that encouraged participating artists and designers to incorporate disused computer and IT components into works of art. There were a broad range of items on display - some of which are still available for sale in the gift shop. Junk-IT featured lamps, handbags, jewellery, clocks, key rings, note books, a sculpture - all crafted from computers parts that were destined for landfill. We still have a range of gifts for those 'difficult to buy for' tech-head and geek friends, or simply for those seeking something quirky, clever, well-made and, not to mention, unique.
Exhibition participants included some of our Reverse Garbage favourites including Rebecca Ward and her Neo-Luddite range of jewellery, Danielle Wood (handbags), Rowena Shakes (disk books) and Pat Holcombe (jewellery). There were also a stack of new creative whizzes we are happy to welcome to our fold, including Haasch (lamps), Susannah Dwyer (key rings and jewellery) and Phil Willy (sculpture and his quirky "technocrits").
