The Reverse
Garbage Gift Shop
Visit a Gift Shop with a difference!
Located within the Reverse Garbage warehouse, the Gift Shop exhibits
the innovative works of artists, craft workers, and designers
who utilise 75% or more of re-used/recycled materials in the work
they create. The results are amazing! All manner of materials,
from discarded venetian blinds and scrap metal, to broken mirrors
and re-used bottles, have taken on a new life as a vibrant work
of art. Materials which often end up as landfill have been cleverly
hand crafted to take on new form and meaning, actively illustrating
the endless possibilities for the re-use of otherwise wasted materials.
So why does an artist make use of discarded materials in their
work? The reasons are as varied as the methods they utilise to
create it. From economic necessity to reducing their impact on
the environment, artists make deliberate choices about what they
use and how and why they use it. The Gift Shop has therefore been
developed to provide a meaningful environment through which artists
can exhibit their work, in addition to providing encouragement,
support, and promotion to the artists who make the choice to creatively
re-use resources in sustainable ways.
All images of artworks have been reproduced with
