Rebecca Ward
Rebecca Ward is a local jewellery maker who incorporates found and salvaged objects, such as beach glass, pebbles and plastic discs, into her works. Her clever crafting of these materials results in beautiful, highly finished works that people adorn themselves with.
Of her practice, Rebecca says:
"It is always a challenge to work with recycled materials and found objects - different rules apply. But the results often lead the artist on an unexpected journey."
"My imagination runs away with me as I unwrap copper wire from old motors and drill through sea glass with tiny diamond bits. I plunder my own pile of silver scrap for fragments of past projects. I chop up glass splinters and tumble until smooth. The intensive work makes space for nihilistic imaginings."
