"Our personal appearance, homes and surrounds are our contemporary aesthetic uniforms. Artwork surrounds itself in an environment of materialism and tribal culture. The path I find myself travelling with the objects I make is the relationship between the body & changing trends of erotic appeal. Colours and textures wield the strongest tools as functional pieces (toys, bags, jewellery etc) mingle with the purely decorative sculptural works."
Bags: Sewn from salvaged upholstery material with new trims of glass beads, metal buttons, satin roses, velvet ribbon, satin binding. Inspired by the naive romanticism of early 20th century chic. The bags are sewn, lashed, twisted, decorated with bohemian adornments. Each one is different from the next, but they are all designed to inspire.
Handmade Toys: Individually crafted toys made from salvaged upholstery samples. Life is instilled & captured by a kaleidoscopic range of fabric cut & sewn into toys & trimmed with an Animal Mammalian Identification Tag (for example: the Species of Babbette BooQuod (Mammal): Recognized by their blue horn like ears, this species resides under couches. Is seriously fixated with archaic dance practices such as the ‘Hokey Pokey Pokem Uppy’. Is tickled to bits by the existence of Algae. Favourite foods are the three C’s: Chocolate, Cheese & Chihuahuas. Colour preference: blue. Starsign: Sparkly).
Figment Animal Range: Babette BooQuad, Lunkaxe Moonkey Slothrocket, Beelark, Zigzog, Butterbat Calamatis, Lunette Zinicky Syzygy, Froggle Woggle, & Prehistoric Fish.
